The challenge
Deliver repeatable, factory-printed site huts for the Western Harbour Tunnel project, ready to install rather than built on site.
The solution
Each hut was printed in our factory in ContourCrete, with the curved roof form and window openings coming straight off the printer rather than being framed on site. They were fitted out with glazing, doors, lighting and a timber bench before leaving the factory floor.
Printing & technology
Each hut takes around 2 days of print time and 5 tonnes of ContourCrete. Printing the shell means the same unit can be repeated to a consistent standard.
Delivery & results
Finished units were craned onto a truck, delivered to the tunnel site and set down ready to use, moved as the works move.
