The challenge
Print a show garden's load-bearing structures in our factory, to Inge Jabara Landscapes' design, and have them ready to craft into place in Melbourne.
The solution
Inge's design drew on the translucent seed pods of the Lunaria plant. We printed two load-bearing pods, each 2.4 metres tall and strong enough to carry a planted roof, plus a basket-weave BBQ bench whose offset layers show the design freedom printing allows.
Printing & technology
Everything was printed in our Sydney factory over around 1 day, using 6 tonnes of ContourCrete, with 10 hours of that on Opus One. Pods were filled with expanding foam for the trip and craned into place in Melbourne.
Delivery & results
"Lunaria Pods" featured at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show 2023, held in the Carlton Gardens from 29 March to 2 April, and on Better Homes and Gardens.
